Unwavering Truth
Not too long ago, maybe 5 minutes ago, I was reading my scriptures and I wanted to share a scripture with you. It goes like this:
Found in The Book of Mormon-- 2 Nephi 29:8
"Wherefore murmur ye, because that ye shall receive more of my word? Know ye not that the testimony of two nations is a witness unto you that I am God, that I remember one nation like unto another? Wherefore, I speak the same words unto one nation like unto another. And when the two nations shall run together the testimony of the two nations shall run together also."
There is some type of unwavering truth that runs through the lines of that scripture. I've discovered it gradually, but now I fully understand the meaning of why we have more than one testament other than the Bible. It is because God has given us two witnesses to further testify of his truth. People may argue that the bible is all one needs, so why would God give us another book? Well, that shouldn't be the question now. The questions should be: Why shouldn't God give us another book? For example, if we want someone to understand the truth about something, we would want more ways, evidence for example, of how to prove to that someone something is true. We know God doesn't give us all the answers, but he does give them to us. We just have to know where to find them. And I love that the reason he gives us these two testaments to different nations is so both nations can read them and come together as one with the same testimony, although they have read slightly different books. It's amazing how we can find the similarities among a different people and culture. I think that's what God wants for us, though. He wants us to be unified in the Gospel.
And when I read this scripture and understood this meaning and truth, I felt a surge of warmth and power run through my body. It was the most magnificent thing. I received it another time in class as I was reading the scriptures about Moses and another time in class watching a video about the temple. It's that feeling, that thing that runs through your body and out of your fingertips that is truly the reason we live, and I know that. We are here for a purpose. It's that out of body experiences that get us going and keeps us remaining here on this Earth because it tells us there is more out there. There is nothing better than a feeling of the spirit, because that is what makes us greater than we are. We are men, but we are men under a God. We are a child of a God: someone who is a celestial being and an all powerful creator. Knowing that, isn't there some kind of obligation we must fulfill? And because of that, is there more to life than just the surface?
I believe so.
